RAILWAY SLEEPERS MAIDSTONE
Only 32 miles from London, yet Maidstone is nestled within Kent’s Garden of England and bordered by swathes of rolling countryside, including the north downs.
Maidstone, the county town of Kent, is attractively divided by the River Medway, which runs through the town centre and connects Maidstone to Rochester and the Thames Estuary. The River Medway was historically the primary source of Maidstone’s trade and industry, proving the most popular route for many supplies in and out of the town.
Just a five minute walk from the busy centre of town sits Mote Park; a 450 acre Green Flag Park which has existed since the 13th century and has previously been owned by the royal family.
Agriculture has always been a significant sector throughout Kent and this region of south east England. This is still very much the case today and the Kent Showground, home to the Kent County Show, is based in Detling, on the outskirts of Maidstone.
Another famous Maidstone landmark is Leeds Castle, one of the most visited historic buildings in Britain and home to many families throughout the years, including Henry VIII and his first wife Catherine of Aragon.
With a population of more than 165,000 people, it’s perhaps no surprise that we supply so many sleepers to Maidstone. Every week we deliver railway sleepers to Maidstone and surrounding areas, including Bearsted, East Farleigh and Sittingbourne, as well as the whole of the UK.
These customers – garden owners, schools and landscapers - are using sleepers for everything from benches and outdoor furniture to steps, raised planters and herb gardens.
